Head trauma – do not sleep until you see a doctor.
That’s good to know. I fell on the ice and hit my head at school in third grade, got unconscious a while, and when I got semi-conscious I was very tired. My teacher asked if I would like him to drive me home, but I said no, I’ll walk. I remembered only part of the walk home. I told mum what had happened, and she told me not to sleep because that could be dangerous. I didn’t see a doctor. (Back then you mostly saw a doctor only if you felt like you were about to die). I was taking it slow, and didn’t sleep until the evening.
@odd Glad that it didn't get more serious for you. I bet that first unconsciousness did a lot of work on your body's behalf. In U.S. it seems the doctor problem has gotten worse in that it costs so much unless well insured (which itself costs so much).
Thanks, yes, I don’t think I suffered any long time side effects. I’m very thankful for our national health service here in Norway, although they don’t do everything right always either, (no one probably ever will). We have a deductible(?) system, so we pay a “egenandel” (a part of the real price, usually around $35) each time we see a GP, or a specialist with a contract with the NHS, or buy medication(~$45). If you’ve added up these receipts up to a sum called “egenandelstak” (lit. “Own-part-roof”, around $300), you get a “frikort”, (lit. Free-card”), so you won’t have to pay anymore that calendar year. Hospitalizations are free, if I remember correctly. It’s all done electronically now.
I feel sick when I hear some of the horror stories from US and the load on the less fortunate. It’s great they may have the worlds best cardiologists etc, but if they are reserved for only the few of the elite, I’m not for it.
